*Psychology: an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental processes and behavior.

The most common fields of psychology that psychologists study are: perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior and interpersonal relationships.  Perception is when one attains awareness of sensory information. Cognition is the thought process of different disciplines. Cognition is basically how a person was brought up and how they think because of how they were brought up. Emotion is a mental state involving feelings such as love, dislike and sadness. Personality is the trates that make someone deviant from others. Different people are going to have different personalities.  Someone can have a kind personality and others can be mean and rude at times. Behaviors are the reactions given by one. Reactions are caused by actions. Interpersonal relationships are long term relationships established  between two people. For example, a parent/child relationship or a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.
